In other words: What percentage of the energy a human consumes, as food, is used a kinetic energy, hense potential energy on reaching the top step, and what percentage is wasted as heat? Thank you!

A human doing things at normal pace is about 25-30% efficient. Doing things at a faster pace leads to a lower energy efficiency.
