The days filled with sun, you may ticular the solar panel and the cloudy days the gas to kick in within. How many batteries would take and it would be feasible?

While it’s a great GREEN idea, it’s a bit impractical.
All horizontal surfaces of the vehicle would need to covered in solar panels. Vehicles would have to pared down to hundreds of pounds instead of thousands, and some other option would have to be offered in regions where clouds are in competition with the sun.

Not to mention, what does one do at night?

You would need a very strong solar panel and too many batteries, cost wise would kill you plus the car would be too heavy.

You ain’t the only genius around here.

Many companies are working on this kind of solution. The problem is that (1) solar panels are not efficient enough yet (2) batteries are too heavy.

You asked WHY - and that is why.

But both are being researched and something will come alone as long as the as prices stay sky high.

    Good question and good luck.
